The clip that holds the tailgate handle rod is a two dollar part that strands a truck bed. When it goes the handle turns and nothing happens, and because the clip is plastic it fails from age rather than from abuse — which means both sides usually go within a season of each other.
This is a direct replacement for factory part numbers 88981030, the green clip, and 88981031, the red one. Five pairs means you fix both sides now and have spares in the glove box for the next truck in the family, which at this price is the sensible way to buy them.

I purchased these Tailgate Handle Rod clips to replace the one that broke on my 2003 GMC. The Rod clips were easy to install once I figured out how to mont the clip to the Rod or better yet, put the clip in hole then clip to the rod. Unfortunately, no installation instructions came with the package. However they worked great the color code helped to establish the difference between left and right. They seem to be durable they look good and the plastic material was easy on your fingers. They were worth purchasing. I would recommend to friends and colleagues.
