Why this set
Red and black is the palette older children ask for. The course still works exactly the same way, but it stops looking like something bought for a toddler, which is often the whole reason a nine-year-old agrees to use it.
Two colors are also the simplest possible coaching tool. Reds are hands, blacks are feet — set the course that way and you have taught the basic discipline of climbing without saying anything about technique.
Twelve holds, six straps, two hundred and thirty pounds per hold, textured and ergonomically shaped so a hand closes naturally around them. The straps ratchet by hand and release without tools.

Big Kid Fun
I got the black set bc they are used in the front yard. They are pretty discreet when the ratchet is placed away from the street. Installed on a very large live oak tree, which is otherwise difficult to climb as it leans to one side. Installation tip: make sure the holds are maybe 12" away from the ratchet before you tighten. In order to release the strap, the ratchet has to be completely open flat. If the hold is too close, you will have to cut the strap to remove it. Can confirm these are strong enough for big teenage boys, as long as you ratchet the strap as tight as possible. Placing a flat top hold for feet is sturdier for the adult size users.

Very nice holds! The grip design allows for strong grabs and the texture helps as well. These are great! Very easy to put up and take down (if need be). I know the colored ones seem to be more popular. But certain colors can be difficult for sensory processing - black was perfect for us. Quality product. Solid design. Easy to use. Would recommend and definitely buy again - for more trees! Lol
