Twelve large holds and six ratchet straps that wrap a trunk and come off again without leaving a mark.

The starter kit for a single trunk.

Why this set

The whole argument for strapping instead of bolting is the tree. Lag screws into living wood invite rot and they are permanent; a ratchet strap spreads its load around the trunk, tightens by hand and releases in seconds. Move the course to a different tree next summer and the first one heals over nothing.

Twelve holds on six straps means two grips per strap, which is how the geometry works out on a trunk between one and two feet across. The holds are big — these are not wall crimps scaled down, they are deliberately generous shapes because climbing a round surface is already harder than climbing a flat one.

Five bright colors across three shapes, in resin that does not crack or fade through a season of weather. Rated to two hundred and thirty pounds per hold, which covers an adult demonstrating the route before the children get on it.

Notes from families who built with it

  • Great Way to Get Kids Outside and Moving

These TOPNEW Ninja Tree Climbing Holds have been a big hit with our grandkids. They’re a fun, challenging way to get them outside and active, and they really enjoy climbing. Installation was quick and simple, and it’s just as easy to move the holds around to change up the challenge level. The quality feels solid for outdoor use, and it’s nice that you can add additional holds over time to change up the course as kids grow and get stronger. Overall, this is good value and a great option for active play and backyard fun. Highly recommend for families looking for an engaging outdoor activity.

  • Definitely worth the money!

So fun! My kids are absolutely loving these. I didn't want to put nails into our tree so I looked for a different option. I didn't expect these to work as well as they do, but they're fantastic. When put on correctly we have had no issues with the slipping or coming loose. There were two that slipped but that was user error because they were on slight bumps. The "rock" part needs to be as flat as possible on the tree. The circumference is HUGE. I've had to roll up the ends and zip tie them so they don't hang loose. The ratchet straps work extremely well. This could be used around anything, not just trees. These would be great for any size tree. Unless you have a giant sequoia, you're not going to have a problem with these being too small. The colors are fun and they're a great price for what you get. I haven't tested them out with a grow-up-weight but they work great for my teenagers.

  • Put these up on a tree at son's house for grandkids to climb. Fun!

TOPNEW 12 Ninja Tree Climbing Holds for Kids is one of the most ingenious inventions ever made for kids! Now kids can access tree climbing even more safely! I love these things! We got sets for trees at both our older son's house and at our younger son's house for our grandkids to play in their back yards. AND we got a set for our house, too! I love to be able to take the grandkids out to our yard for outdoor play when they come to visit. This is an awesome gift idea for any occasion for any child and I would purchase again in a heart beat! SO EASY to strap onto any tree, these holds are terrific! I highly recommend! (advisable to assist any really small child until they get adept at climbing and returning to the ground safely)

  • Very fun

Kids love them, very fun, and they were easy to install. I was a bit worried they would mess up the tree, it seems fine I guess but I wish there was a pad to go between the ratchet and the tree. The only other thing is the ratchets are just a little sharp and I worry just a little about someone cutting themselves.
