Why this set
Twenty holds is the count at which a tree course stops being a ladder and starts being a route you can design. There are enough grips to build a line with choices in it: an easy way and a hard way past the same section, which is what keeps a climber coming back.
The orange stays legible in deep shade and the black takes the shoe scuffs. Set them in alternating bands up the trunk and even a child who cannot yet count has a visual rhythm to follow.
Twelve holds, three shapes, two colors and six ratchet straps is the smaller kit; this is the same parts list with eight more grips. Both are rated to two hundred and thirty pounds per hold and neither needs a single hole in the tree.

Big Kid Fun
I got the black set bc they are used in the front yard. They are pretty discreet when the ratchet is placed away from the street. Installed on a very large live oak tree, which is otherwise difficult to climb as it leans to one side. Installation tip: make sure the holds are maybe 12" away from the ratchet before you tighten. In order to release the strap, the ratchet has to be completely open flat. If the hold is too close, you will have to cut the strap to remove it. Can confirm these are strong enough for big teenage boys, as long as you ratchet the strap as tight as possible. Placing a flat top hold for feet is sturdier for the adult size users.

Very nice holds! The grip design allows for strong grabs and the texture helps as well. These are great! Very easy to put up and take down (if need be). I know the colored ones seem to be more popular. But certain colors can be difficult for sensory processing - black was perfect for us. Quality product. Solid design. Easy to use. Would recommend and definitely buy again - for more trees! Lol
